Chari Peak
Captivated by the human form and inspired by color and simple shapes, Chari views broken furniture, wheels and other unusual cast-off materials as opportunity rather than as junk. She believes the history of each object should not be forgotten and thus forms figures from them with hand-sculpted heads and hands (of paper clay and some low-fired ceramic clay) they’ve inspired. “It is not what you have,” she says, “it’s how you use it.”
