Ellen Hendricks

Gourd artist & basket weaver, retired Art teacher Ellen Hendricks grows & processes her own materials; for example, inner bark must be harvested in the Spring while the sap is rising. “The variety of textures & colors available from natural fibers make working with them a real pleasure,“ she writes, & highlights those features with basic structures such as plain weave, chased plain weave, twill, herringbone & twining. Embellishments include old trade beads, stones, & seeds from her garden.  You will love the work resulting from her deep appreciation for materials, process, and form.
