Scott Hartley
A former biology teacher, the love of art moved Scott to quit his job. “Glass is the perfect marriage of art and science.” Glass is made from a mixture of sand, soda ash and other chemicals. A blowpipe is used to gather layers of glass from the furnace. The glass is blown from the inside out. First the color is added then layers of clear glass is added. “Nothing gives me more peace of mind than the quiet roar of a glass furnace and me with a blowpipe in my hand.”
